Brief History
Top Cover Medics was formed in 2021 by Shane Bassett. Shane is an ex Combat Medical Technician who was attached to the 2nd Parachute regiment, where he served from 2003 until 2011. During this time, he was faced with many challenging situations whilst out on tour of Afghanistan.
Since leaving the military Shane has continued his love for the medical field, and in 2021 decided to form Top Cover Medics Ltd. Working closely with the Leg-up project who have in turn supported and encouraged with ongoing professional training to help launch Top Cover Medics. It wasn’t all plain sailing during this process Shane had suffered with debilitating PTSD following his active tour of duty in Afghanistan. During this period Shane took a break from the medical profession to aid his recovery from his experiences in Afghanistan.
In 2020 Boots on the Ground and The Leg Up Project along with HDP helped Shane to rediscover his vocation. In March 2021 Top Cover Medics was formed and has continued to develop and grow as the years pass by. Shane has continued to develop his medical training by completing his CERAD (Blue Lights driving course) along with his FREC 5 qualification.
